Live Like Abby is honored to be partnering with School District 123, Oak Lawn-Hometown Middle School, and Kolmar Elementary School for the Live Like Abby Walkathon on May 13th, 2022. This event is being organized in conjunction with the staff and students of the schools where Abby would have attended and graduated in 2019. It promises to be a great day and event.

All proceeds will go toward furthering our mission of funding research set on curing and improving treatment for children affected by this terrible disease. As part of the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, we are proud to say that our efforts have resulted in funding over $2 million in pediatric brain tumor research so far. It’s a staggering number that would make Abby proud but is unfortunately not nearly enough. Doctors and researchers heavily rely on private funding (like ours) to support their work which makes our efforts all the more important. Did you know that only 4% of the U.S. government’s cancer research budget is dedicated to pediatrics? Only a small portion of that is dedicated to pediatric brain cancer and yet each day 13 more children are diagnosed with brain tumors. Those children deserve the chance to fight and live. You can help us give these children a chance.

The 2021 edition falls on Sept. 10, Sept. 11 and Sept. 12, at 95th Street and Cook Avenue.

In addition to live music, the fest features a food tent featuring local restaurants, beverage tent, a craft tent, business tent, teen and children's activities, trivia, bingo and more.  Art In The Yard featuring local artists will be held between the green and library, tentatively planned for Sept. 11.

This year Live Like Abby been added as a designated charity of Fall On The Green. Named in memory of named for 8-year-old Abby Wujcik, who died in 2013 of a brain tumor, raises funds for pediatric brain tumor research in partnership with the John McNicholas Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation.

We would like to announce that at the Costumes and Cocktails event – $65,000 was raised!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

On Saturday, May 13th, 2017 – the Lady Bulldogs played against the Eisenhower Cardinals in the Strike Out Cancer softball game.

This annual game honors Abby and also Christa Carbray Johnson (former Bulldog, friend of Kevin) who passed away from brain cancer.

The Live Like John Service and Leadership Institute (which Abby’s sister Morgan is a part of) organized games under the saying “Rivals on the Field, United in the Fight” to help promote brain cancer awareness in May.

Live Like Abby sold tee shirts and headbands to the Oak Lawn School District 123 schools to help raise awareness for Go Gray in May. The schools participated in a contest to see which class sold the most, with first, second, and third places receiving prizes. Two Kolmar Avenue School classes earned first and second places, and a class at Carl A. Sward School earned third place.

On May 18th, the schools celebrated a Live Like Abby Day and wore their shirts and headbands. Kevin and Kristyn, along with Karen O’Dea, went to each school and took pictures with those that participated.
